Scope and Contents
This collection contains scrapbooks that document George Mason Coleman’s career as a journalist in Atlanta. The bulk of the material is newspaper clippings of his work at Atlanta Daily World including cartoons, poems, articles, and photographs about the Civil Rights Movement, the African American community in Atlanta, legal affairs, and race relations. In addition, there is a scrapbook of correspondence from corporations and individuals praising his work as a reporter. Of particular note are letters from the the United States White House, the United States Marine Corp, and former Michigan Governor George Romney.
