Scope and Contents
This series contains photographs, negatives, drawings, and slides of buildings designed by Stevens & Wilkinson, Architects, Engineers, and its previous iteration, Burge and Stevenson. Images depict medical buildings, educational facilities, churches, United States military buildings, housing facilites, and commercial stores such as Rich's Department Store, and Sears, Roebuck and Company, primarily in Georgia and the southeast. Also included in this series is a portrait of Flippen D. Burge, principal architect of Burge and Stevens. Segregated schools are designated as "African American" or "white" as per noted on the photographs and original documentation. Many photographic prints in this series are photographic reprints of floor plans and drawings. All locations are in Atlanta, Georgia, unless otherwise noted.
