Scope and Contents note
The photographs in this series document activities at the Infantry School at Fort Benning in Columbus, GA during World War II, and events in the career of Dr. Allen D. Albert. The images are divided into three subseries; (A) "Fort Benning Infantry School", the majority of which include photographs of visiting dignitaries and officials. Individuals such as Army Chief of Staff General George C. Marshall, British Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Anthony Eden, British Field Marshall Sir John Dill, and Atlanta businessman Frank Neely are pictured in these images. Dr. Albert was aide-de-camp to Major General Levan Allen, base commander at Fort Benning when these photographs were taken. Some identities of visiting dignitaries are unidentified. Subseries A is divided into five sub-subseries. The second subseries (B) "Affiliations" includes images of Dr. Allen at events sponsored by organizations he belonged to such as Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, and the Conference of Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army. The final subseries, (C) "Atlanta" consists of aerial images of downtown Atlanta, including views of Rich’s department store and the Flatiron building.
