Seed and Nursery Catalogs, 1771-1997, undated
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of photocopies of 18th and 19th century seed and nursery catalogs as well as a small number of original catalogs. A photocopy of the William Prince Nursery Catalog from 1771 marks the earliest information in the series. The William Prince Nursery is also the best represented company in the series; the collection contains photocopies of twenty-nine different catalogues from the company. Seed and nursery businesses from the mid-Atlantic States and Illinois are most frequent. Georgia companies include the Downing-Hill Nursery, Fruitland Nurseries, J. H. Parsons and Co., Pomona Hall Nursery, and Sea Island Nursery.
