Scope and Content

From the Collection:

Most of the material in this collection focuses on Enoch Smythe Gambrell and Barmore Pepper Gambrell. The other members of the family are covered sparingly. There are numerous pamphlets and clippings on his speech for the American Bar Association at Runnymede in England and an audiotape of that speech. Other items, collected by Enoch Smythe Gambrell, such as copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg address, are also in the collection. The records relating to Barmore Pepper Gambrell include correspondence, board certification documents, newspaper clippings, a bank book, and information on Major General Edwin Walker vs. Atlanta. Also included is an award that Barmore received in 1980 from the American Legend. Additional materials include pamphlets of the dedication of Gambrell Hall at the University of South Carolina and an audiotape of the dedication of Gambrell Hall at Emory University.
