Scope and Content
This series contains records from the City of Atlanta Police Department (APD), Atlanta Fire Department (AFD), and City Marshall. The APD records include council minutes (1919-1954, and 1958-1971); annual reports (1896-1952, and 1954-1975); a police court docket (1871-1872); a rules and regulations report (1918-1938); and a counterfeit and forgeries report. The AFD records (1856-1975) include annual reports listing personnel, statistics, and department concerns and needs. Also included are AFD seniority lists, time books, and information about the Atlanta Volunteer Fire Companies. In 1919, the City Marshall compiled a book of residents in Atlanta organized by street name.
