Correspondence between Henry A. Rucker and Booker T. Washington, 1904-1910
Scope and Contents
This series documents Henry Rucker and the Rucker family, particularly their social life, businesses, and political involvement. Personal papers include correspondence, scrapbooks, writings, and clippings. Of particular note are diaries written by Hazel E. Rucker and material from Anne Rucker's education at Atlanta University and Hampton Institute. The series also documents African American fraternal associations such as the Georgia Colored Industrial and Orphan’s Home, the Negro Young People’s Christian Association, the Negro Business League, and freemason lodges. Legal papers document family finances, land and estate management, and court cases, and include deeds, receipts, stock certificates, promissory notes, and wills. The series also contains political documents from the Republican Party.
