Scope and Content
This collection mostly contains documents relating the Hugh Brannon's education at Technological High School, and the neighborhood in which he lived, Inman Park. Included are examples of Brannon's classwork at William A. Bass Junior High School and at Technological High School, in courses such as mathematics, science, English, and social studies. Student assignments represented in the collection sometimes touched upon the subject of war in Europe. Brannon, a lifelong resident of Atlanta's Inman Park, collected documents from its neighborhood association, including membership directories and brochures advertising the annual Spring Festival and Tour of Homes. The collection includes hundreds of copies of The Inman Park Advocator and it's predecessor,Hot Rats. These community newsletters highlight issues and events important to the community, including zoning, preservation, and crime. Of special interest are issues on the topics of the proposed construction of I-485 and Presidential Parkway. The collection also contains copies of Brannon's military service records, and documents which reflect his interest in Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery, the Atlanta Fire Department, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
