This series contains correspondence on business and personal matters of several members of the Grant family, including John T. Grant (1813-1887), William Daniel Grant (1837-1901), and Sarah Francis "Sallie Fannie" Reid Grant (1839-1920). Correspondence describes living conditions of soldiers and their families during the Civil War. Other materials include greeting cards, diaries, invitations, school papers, and financial records relating to the Grant family of Atlanta and West Point, Georgia. The Grant family regularly attended Atlanta’s elite social gatherings and civic events, with many of their invitations and programs included in this series. Of particular interest is correspondence and records relating to Grant family businesses, a presidential pardon for William Daniel Grant following the Civil War, and the wartime correspondence of William and his wife Sarah.
