Scope and Contents
This series contains speeches and interviews given by Southern Railway presidents, vice presidents, and system officers. These speeches were delivered to railroad companies, various rotary clubs, associations and advisory boards for shipping, commissioners, suppliers, and specialized divisions. Some of these speeches were delivered during company ceremonies, conferences, and meetings. Included are speeches given by Fairfax Harrison (1913-1937), W. Graham Claytor (1967-1977), L. Stanley Crane (1977-1980), and Harold H. Hall (1980-1982), and Robert B. Claytor (1982-1987), who served as the first president of Norfolk Southern.
