Scope and Contents

This series contains images related to LGBTQ+ events, as well as geographic locations within Atlanta, Georgia. Major annual events include AIDS Walk Atlanta; Atlanta Black Pride; the Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade; the Dr. Martin Luther King Commemorative March and Rally; Hotlanta River Expo; Southern Comfort Conference; and annual competitions and pageants hosted by LGBTQ+ bars and nightclubs. Also included in this series are images of demonstrations, protests, and counter-protests, including Olympics Out of Cobb protests, demonstrations sponsored by ACT UP, and those related to LGBTQ+ civil and human rights, particularly as it relates to HIV and AIDS medical care. All images were photographed in Atlanta, Georgia, unless otherwise noted.
