The bulk of this collection contains administrative documents from the Confederate States Navy (CSN). Documents include vouchers, allotment tickets, pay receipts, appointments, letters and receipts for repair from the CSS Alabama, CSS Chameleon, CSS Florida, CSS Rappahannock, CSS Scylla, CSS Shenandoah, and CSS Stonewall. Additionally there are financial accounts, Confederate bonds, and receipts. Of particular note are accounting and receipt books, a checkbook, correspondence containing orders, notebooks, and pay rolls from Confederate Lieutenant General Richard Taylor (1826-1879), paymaster for the CSN.
