Of particular note is a photograph of Atlanta's Woman of the Year founder, Charles H. Jagels, in 1943, as well as photographs of Mayors William B. Hartsfield (1890-1971) and Ivan Allen Jr. (1911-2003) with Woman of the Year awardees. This collection contains correspondence between Georgia State Librarian Ella May Thornton to Alex Gaines of the Alston & Bird law firm about Ms. Thornton's wish to see a miniature village depicting Atlanta in 1864 developed in Atlanta near the site of the Georgia State Capitol. The collection also contains brochures and news clippings on other miniature villages. The proposal did not go beyond this correspondence.

Included are report cards from the Georgia Capital Female College and Conservatory of Music in 1890-1891, her passport from 1935, and a citation from the Atlanta Library Club upon her retirement in 1954.
