Scope and Content This collection contains forty-two original letters written by A. T. Holliday to his wife, Elizabeth (Lizy). These letters were written between July 6, 1864 and September 10, 1864 during Mr. Holliday's service in the Georgia Militia in the Atlanta Campaign. John A. Fillen Georgia Militia Commission

Scope and Contents of the Records

This collection contains a certificate presented to John A. Fillen appointing him Major of the “Atlanta Battalion” of the Georgia Militia. The appointment was made by Georgia Governor, James M. Smith, on July 24, 1874 and is also signed by the Secretary of the Executive Department, J.N. Warren.

Volunteer Force of the State of Georgia returns of election

Scope and Content

This collection consists of one copy of the Returns of the Election for the positions of Captain, 1st Lieutenant, and 2nd Lieutenant of Company K of the 5th Regiment. Hugh M. Dorsey was elected Captain; Sam H. Howell was elected 1st Lieutenant; and James C. Rathers was elected 2nd Lieutenant. Also listed are the names of 29 men who voted.
