The film captures some members of the tour group boarding an Air France jet in Atlanta, Georgia. Among the passengers captured boarding the plane were Tom Little, Charlotte Little, and Ruth McMillan, the trip's organizer. Of special note are photographs of the Great Fire of Atlanta in 1917, the Festival of Old Atlanta in the late 1960s, and negatives of aerial photographs of downtown Atlanta. Mason I. Lowance photograph collection

Scope and Content

This collection contains images from the 1958 Harvest Ball at the Piedmont Driving Ball and is mostly of couples as they enter into the ballroom. Also included are slides from the 1962 Atlanta Art Association trip, in which 106 of the passengers were Atlanta art patrons who died in the crash as the plane was taking off. Also includes a slide of the front cover of the Atlanta Constitution for June 4, 1962.
