Childress-Bryant family papers

Scope and Content These papers document the ownership history of several tracts of land in District 14 of Atlanta, Georgia, between 1822 and 1925. Including land lots are 119, 197, 198, 231, and 232. The collection consists of land grants, deeds, and papers primarily of the Childress and Bryant families. There are also papers regarding the land transactions of the White, Thomas, Mangum, Mitchell, Wooten, Thrasher, Guyton, Willis, and Suttles families. Colley family papers

This collection contains copies of tombstone transcriptions for members of the Colley family, as well as members of the Daniel, Berry, Hight, and Perry families in the Colley Family Cemetery. Other items include a transcription of Joel Colley's will (written in 1850); typed excerpts from the Newton County deed book; and copies of letters to James G. Bogle and Franklin Garrett in the early 1970's.

John Whitehead last will and testament

Scope and Content

This collection consists of John Whitehead's 1857 last will and testament. His will divided his private property and slaves among his children. His son, John R. Whitehead, and son-in-law, Thomas Berrien, who was a county commissioner and judge in Burke County, served as executors of the will. J. Edward Garlick signed the will as ordinary.

Rhodes family papers

The collection consists of family papers, including the Last Will and Testaments of A.G. Rhodes (18 October, 1928) and his wife Amanda Wilmot Rhodes (24 December, 1926). Included are worksheets documenting the dispersal of bequests and legal documents that reference their estate. In his Last Will and Testament, A.G. Rhodes left money to numerous relatives and to the A.G. Rhodes Home for Incurables and Peachtree Christian Church.

Samuel M. Inman and Jane Walker Inman legal documents

Troutman and Battey family papers

Scope and Content

The bulk of the Troutman and Battey family papers are legal documents (many from Floyd Country) generated by those families, including deeds of indenture (many signed by Dr. Robert Battey), wills, and an abstract of title to lands in Floyd County. The collection also contains correspondence, the majority of which was sent to Colonel Hiram Bainbridge Troutman, a book of Minstrel song, and documents pertaining to Atlanta society.
