Scope and Content The collection, in its original format, is a single 8mm black and white acetate film. The film captures the roadside environs along Marietta Street and other downtown roadways beginning in or near downtown Atlanta, heading northwest towards Kennesaw Mountain, and ending in the Marietta Square. Scope and Contents of the Records This collection contains photographs of cities located south of Atlanta, Georgia in Fulton County. Included are images of College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto, Red Oak, and Union City. Many of these cities were originally part of Campbell County, a county that went bankrupt during the Great Depression and was then merged with Fulton County. This collection contains correspondence between Georgia State Librarian Ella May Thornton to Alex Gaines of the Alston & Bird law firm about Ms. Thornton's wish to see a miniature village depicting Atlanta in 1864 developed in Atlanta near the site of the Georgia State Capitol. The collection also contains brochures and news clippings on other miniature villages. The proposal did not go beyond this correspondence.
