Benjamin J. Wilson Photograph and Map Collection

Scope and Contents of the Records

This collection of photographs consist of three generations of Wilson family members, including the images of grandchildren: Caverly, Bessie and Benjamin Wilson Tye; the children of Carrie Wilson Tye and John L. Tye. There are also several unidentified photos. An additional oversize file contains a map, property survey of Fulton County, near Westend, pertaining to the Riddle v. Wilson court case that is part of MSS 208.

Scope and Content This collection contains one scrapbook of 127 images. These snapshots are mainly of the immediate family of George C. Spence, Sr. and range in date from approximately 1870 to 1945. Subjects include George C. Spence, Sr.; his mother, Cornelia; his sisters, Eudora, Mary, and Eleanor; and his brother, Nat Spence. There are several childhood photographs of George C. Irene Toy Sherard photograph collection

Scope and Content This collection contains two albums of black and white photographs. The images are of Irene Sherard, her family and her friends. Most of the images are undated and are taken in outdoor settings. The subjects of the images appear to be young men and women participating in group activities in playful outdoor settings. Robert S. Paden photographs and drawing

Scope and Contents

This collection contains photographs of five generations of the Smith-Steele-Medlock-Davenport family gathered for Elizabeth Hawkins Smith's 93rd birthday. Also included is a watercolor drawing of Jasper Smith (1836), Martha Ellen Smith Paden's brother, who died during the American Civil War. Of special note are photographs of “Auntie Gracie” and Wilkes Smith, two formerly enslaved people who worked for the Smith family. Robert S. Paden took the photograph of Wilkes Smith.

Scope and Content

This collection contains images of the residence of Judge Clark Howell (Rosalie Howell's grandfather) and the Howell family. Also included are photographs of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation and the Evan Park Howell School in Atlanta, Georgia. Of special note are images of the graveside and floral designs from Clark Howell's funeral at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta.
