Scope and Content Note

This collection contains photographs of buildings and natural scenery in Atlanta and throughout the state of Georgia. Photographs of Atlanta include images of City Hall, Municipal Airport, Atlantic Steel Company, Cyclorama Building, Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill, Municipal Auditorium, North Fulton Golf Course, and the Capitol Building. Photographs taken throughout the state of Georgia include images of Midway Congregational Church, Fort Pulaski, Brasstown Bald, the Okefenokee Swamp, Tallulah Gorge, and agricultural scenes.


Arrangement

This collection is arranged in two series: 1) Atlanta buildings, 2) Georgia Scenes, each alphabetical by titles supplied by staff.

Series 2: Georgia Scenes

This series includes photographs of outdoor scenes across the state of Georgia. Fort Pulaski, a coastal defense in Savannah, GA that was completed in 1846, served as the site for the first Union assault on the Confederate army in Georgia during the Civil War; the fort stands today as a national monument that attracts thousands of visitors each year.
