Administrative/Biographical History

Susan Kessler Barnard published Buckhead: A Place for All Time in 1996. Buckhead is the northwest section of Atlanta. She did a great deal of primary and secondary source research. Mrs. Barnard also conducted 120 personal interviews with old and young residents of Buckhead, including descendants of original settlers. At the start of each taped interview Mrs. Barnard told the interviewee he or she was being recorded and asked permission to use the material in her book. Mrs. Barnard then made partial transcriptions, sometimes noting down the words verbatim, sometimes making paraphrases. Not all of the tapes were transcribed.
