Administrative/Biographical History

The Atkins Park Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was founded in 1929 for "the study and culture of flowers, the study of landscape gardening, and the general beautification of Atkins Park." The club joined the Garden Club of Georgia Inc. in 1930. The club is governed by officers elected by members including president and vice president. The club's early civic projects included beautifying the neighborhood stone gateways and vacant lots. The club has supported garden therapy programs on both state and local levels, along with several local hospitals, and played an active role in the Atkins Park Neighborhood Association. The club has hosted and participated in numerous flower shows, winning many awards.
