Biographical/Historical Note

J. Thomas Hutcheson was born in Comer, Georgia, in 1906. He studied the violoncello and was an accomplished amateur musician. Miss Senta Mueller was also an amateur musician in Atlanta, Georgia. They were among the first members of the Atlanta Philharmonic Society. The Atlanta Philharmonic Society was founded in 1931 with Victor H. Kriegshaber as president with an orchestra, choral, string quartet, etc., all composed of amateur musicians. Mr. Hutcheson was a member of the orchestra in 1931-1932 and 1941 and of the string quartet from 1931-1933.

Scope and Content Note

This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings and programs of the Atlanta Philharmonic Society and some musical events in Atlanta.
