Administrative/Biographical History

Dr. Benjamin F. Bomar, the son of Reverend Thomas Bomar, attended the Medical College of the State of South Carolina in Charleston. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and became the second mayor of Atlanta in 1849. Dr. Bomar married Sarah Elizabeth Lumpkin Haynes. Their son, Major Thomas Haynes Bomar, served in the Confederate Army, was captured toward the end of the war, and imprisoned at Fort Delaware. Their daughter, Amaryllis (1846-1919), married Charles Henry Killian. Charles H. Killian was also a Confederate veteran. Additional biographical information on the Bomar-Killian family has not been determined.
