Gladys Hanson Snook Cook (1884-1973) was born in Georgia to Colonel Peyton H. Snook and Mrs. Irene Snook. In 1916, Gladys married Charles Emerson Cook, a playwright and stage producer. They had one daughter, Gladys Irene. Gladys Hanson Cook was an actress and played a leading role in the play, “The New Marriage”. She was a member of the Henry Miller theatrical company. At age 26, she played Ophelia in “Hamlet” on Broadway. Some of her stage credits include “Evensong,” “Mary Goes to See” with Dame Marie Tempest, and “Brown Danube”. From 1914 to 1916, Gladys appeared in the films “The Straight Road” and “The Evangelist”. She also appeared in the film “The Havoc” with famous actor, Lewis Stone. She died February 23, 1973 and was buried in Westview Cemetery.
