Biographical/Historical Note

John Eagan was an Atlanta industrialist and philanthropist; and a leader in the YMCA and church council movements. He was an advocate of educational excellence and municipal ownership of utilities. He was a pioneer for racial justice, interracial cooperation, women's rights, civic reform, labor relations, prison reform, and stock-sharing for industrial workers. He was president of American Cast Iron Pipe Company.

This collection includes personal correspondence, biographical sketches, news clippings, business records, personal financial records, and property records of John Eagan.
