Administrative History of

The National Conference of Women in Chambers of Commerce, formerly Southeastern Conference of Women in Chambers of Commerce, is a non-profit organization formed in 1954. In 1979, the organization changed its name in order to broaden the scope of its membership. The administrative structure of the organization included: an executive board and nominating committee. Each year the nominating committee provided a list of potential candidates for the executive board positions: president-elect, three vice presidents, secretary, treasurer, and one member at large from each state represented in the membership. The membership at large would elect at new officers at the national meeting. The primary objectives of the organization is to encourage women’s participation in the promotion of business and the improvement of communities through work in their local Chamber of Commerce, as well as to unite women in their common goal of achieving success in their business and professional ventures. The organization also endeavors to foster an understanding and working relationship between Chamber of Commerce men and women, especially in the realm of civic activities.1 Additional descriptive information regarding the National Conference of Women in Chambers of Commerce has not been determined.
