Scope and Content

This collection contains personal papers and memorabilia of the Slider family. The bulk of the collection pertains to activities at the Baptist Tabernacle Church and includes weekly church bulletins, flyers, and church programs. In addition, there are newspaper clippings about members of the Slider family. The collection also contains certificates of appreciation and completion for Annie B. Slider and her daughter, Annie Mae. There is one black and white photograph of Elma Virginia Slider taken at her high school graduation enclosed in a card issued at the Henry Grady Hotel (Atlanta, Georgia). There is one letter from Dr. and Mrs. Paul S. James to the Annie B. Slider Committee at Baptist Tabernacle Church commending Annie for her life of service. Lastly, there are some papers pertaining to the Slider family home including a newsletter advertising the sale of the home and a report providing a brief history of the home located on Tenth Street.

Administrative/Biographical History

Annie Bundick Slider (1894-1988) was born on December 26, 1894. She met her husband, John Elmer Slider (1893-1957), at the Baptist Tabernacle Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and they were married June 6, 1918. The couple had two daughters, Annie Mae (1923-2001) and Elma Virginia (1929-). The Sliders were very active members of Baptist Tabernacle Church where Annie served as a department leader for teenagers from 1917-1980. She resided at the Slider family home on Tenth Street in Atlanta until her death in early 1988, and is buried at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. Additional biographical information about Annie B. Slider has not been determined.
