Biographical/Historical Note

The Brookwood Hills Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia was organized in 1938 to "aid the promotion of mutual interest in the preservation and beautification of this subdivision, to create good fellowship in encouraging interest in plant life, and the art of arranging and cultivating flowers." The club is governed by elected officers such as president, vice-president, and treasurer. The club is a member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. and the Fulton County Federation of Garden Clubs. The club worked to restore the Brookwood Hills park, establish nature trails and a bird sanctuary, as well as landscaping the Brighton and Palisades Roads neighborhood entrances. The club also supported organizations such as the American Red Cross and local area hospitals. The club has hosted and participated in numerous flower shows.
