Edward Garrett of South Carolina fought in the American Revolution. His descendant, Elizabeth Fannie Garrett, married William Morgan Walthall. Additional biographical information about the Garrett and Walthall families has not been determined.
This collection contains the personal and business papers of the Garrett and Walthall families. Included are typescript transcripts of property records, estate records, and genealogical records. Some of the records transcribed were created as early as 1794 and reflect the families personal wealth and, in some cases, the ownership of African American slaves. Also included is an original application to the Daughters of the American Revolution.
