The Metropolitan Opera Company was founded in New York City in 1883. Starting with that first year the company went on tour around the country. It started visiting Atlanta in 1910 and continued visiting with breaks in the war years until the 1980s. Additional administrative information about the Metropolitan Opera has not been determined.

This collection is comprised of three scrapbooks, annual reports, and programs of the Metropolitan Opera on its visits to Atlanta.
