Scope and Content Note

This collection contains an eight-page copy of a letter dated March 24, 1864 addressed to Miss Lucy Littell, in care of Reverend William S. Baird, Wesleyan Institute, Staunton, Virginia from A. K. The letter describes a visit to Richmond, Virginia and Laurens Hill Plantation in Laurens County, Georgia. He details the house on the plantation, food and clothing prices, salaries of servants, crops, and the style of dress and lifestyle of Orralee Troup, daughter of former Georgia Governor George M. Troup. The collection also contains a newspaper article and an article listing Laurens Hill on a tour of historical homes, both dated 1976.
