Administrative/Biographical History

Robert Lee Avary was born in DeKalb County to Dr. James Corbin Avary and Susan Frances Carr Avary. He was educated at Decatur Academy, Neel's Military Academy, Emory College, and Atlanta Law School. In 1900 he married Janie Stephens and had two children; Robert Lee Avary, Jr., and Stephens Archer Avary. As well as being a lawyer, Robert Lee Avary was also a public speaker and worked in the Methodist Episcopal Church.
